Sustainability

Our approach
With over 100 years of experience in manufacturing garments and outerwear, FREED has acquired valuable know-how that we have leveraged to adapt to the evolving needs of consumers, the fashion industry and the planet.
At FREED, we specialize in crafting animal-free fur and leather outerwear that is built to last, and we do it with a zero-waste approach by repurposing fabric ends and cut-offs into other products. Our commitment to quality and sustainability ensures that our products stand the test of time, reducing waste and minimizing our environmental impact.

Our Fabrics
Our fabrics are OEKO-TEX100 Standard Certified, which attests to our strict control over the production process to eliminate harsh chemicals and pollution during the milling of our fabrics. We pride ourselves on combining a century of industry-leading manufacturing expertise with forward-thinking ethical practices, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and sustainability, by:
- Producing and design everything in Canada
- Ensuring all products are 100% vegan and cruelty-free
- Using eco-conscious textiles, free of animal-based dye
- Implementing slow waste production processes
- Constantly innovating to be more sustainable

Our zero-waste initiative
FREED is committed to minimizing waste and maximizing sustainability. We repurpose our fabric ends and off-cuts to create new products, including different styles of coats, bucket hats, mitts, and bags.
To ensure every bit of fabric is repurposed, we get creative with what we produce, including limited run items such as pom poms, leg warmers, earmuffs, and scrunchies. By making use of all available resources, we ensure that nothing goes to waste.
